The Notturno for Piano, op. 75b, which seeks to evoke the impressions of a tropical night, was written in 1982 for the Neues Klavierbuch (New Piano Book) of the publishers Schott. The permanent transforming of the initial material makes possible, within the narrowest confines, the intended contrasts without however endangering the coherence of the piece. Only in the last bars do we reach a relaxed nocturnal atmosphere.
