At the suggestion of his viola-playing daughter-in-law Andrea, Bertold Hummel arranged the final movement of his Divertimento for 4 violins or violin-orchestra, op. 36a for 4 violas. The piece was premièred as an effective finale to a viola concert programme in Hamburg in February, 2000.
