The Burlesque for piano and chamber orchestra op. 13g was commissioned by the Small Entertainment Orchestra Südwestfunk Baden-Baden in 1956. The following year it was produced with this orchestra under the direction of Willi Stech, who also took on the solo part, for the SWF in Freiburg. The concise and witty concert piece is beautifully orchestrated and characterized by brisk changes of time, which are always calmed down by a little waltz melody.
